Hi there! I'm Mrs. Valleie and I LOVE teaching. I find great joy in learning and I love sharing this joy with my students. To me, teaching is like a puzzle, I'm constantly trying to figure out what motivates my students, how I can make sure that every student in my class is able to not only understand what I am teaching but also engaged in learning, and how to ignite the spark that turns each student into a lifelong learner.
I hold Master's Degree in Education from Pepperdine University and, prior to pursuing a career in the field of education, received a Bachelor's Degree in Business with a double emphasis in Marketing and Finance from the University of Colorado at Boulder (Go Buffs!). After about five years in the business world, where I worked in marketing and brand management for start-ups as well as for big brands, I decided to take the leap and become a teacher. I believe that my background in business has given me a great deal of experience collaborating with other people and has also provided me with a unique perspective on the importance of education in preparing students to be future leaders.
I'm a Colorado native and have lived in Los Angeles since November, 2010. When I'm not in the classroom, you can find me hiking with my dog, exploring Disneyland with my husband, baking, cooking, reading all sorts of books, training for marathons, crocheting, embroidering, sewing, or talking teaching with my mom, grandmothers, or aunt - we're all teachers!
